DERETH
NETWORK

The Dereth Networktells, friends and chat between Asheron's Call worlds

The Dereth Network links community worlds, so you can send a tell to a friend on another world, see when they come online, and talk in a room every world shares. It works with any client, retail included: your world does the work, and your client only sees tells, friends and chat it already knows.

Kept up to date daily from the community server list.

Link your characters and manage your alts.

How does it work?

A world operator can enable the Dereth Network. Players are not connected to the network by default; each character is opted in individually:

/dn on
Join the Dereth Network as Character Name@world.
/dn off
Disconnect from the Dereth Network on this character.
/dn
Show connection status.
/dn worlds
Show worlds connected to the Dereth Network.
/dng <text>
Send a message to global chat shared by all Dereth Network worlds. World operators decide which global channel, if any, shows Dereth Network global chat, but we think Roleplay is a good default.

/derethnetwork is the same command spelled out, @dn works as well as /dn, and /dn global <text> as well as /dng.

Tells

Players on the Dereth Network are known by Character Name@world. Send a tell as you would normally, and reply with @r or by clicking their name in the chat box.

@tell An Adventurer@leafcull, long time! still playing?
You tell An Adventurer@leafcull, "long time! still playing?"
An Adventurer@leafcull tells you, "yes! come say hi Saturday"

Tells traveling through the Dereth Network are always followed by their @world designation, even if it is the same world you're on.

Friends

Friend someone on the Dereth Network and they'll show up right in the retail client's friend list.

/dn friends add An Adventurer@leafcull
Add a Dereth Network friend. You can use the in-game friends panel, too.
/dn friends
Show your Dereth Network friends.
/dn friends remove An Adventurer@leafcull
Remove a Dereth Network friend.
Squelch
/squelch An Adventurer@leafcull
Mute someone on the Dereth Network.
/unsquelch An Adventurer@leafcull
Unmute someone on the Dereth Network.
/dn squelch leafcull
Mute an entire world.
/dn unsquelch leafcull
Unmute an entire world.

You can also tell your world's operator about a nuisance character or world; operators can block entire worlds or characters from interacting with their world over the Dereth Network. A world that abuses the network can be reported.

Channels

Invite-only cross-world groups, addressable via @tell.

In any client:

@tell oldguard@channel, anyone around tonight?
oldguard@channel tells you, "An Adventurer@leafcull: I am!"

In the Dereth client, the same lines read as channel chat:

[oldguard] You say, "anyone around tonight?"
[oldguard] An Adventurer@leafcull says, "I am!"
/dn channel create oldguard
Start a channel.
/dn channel invite oldguard Ann@frost
Invite someone. Any member can.
/dn channel join oldguard
Join a channel you've been invited to.
/dn channel members oldguard
Who's in it.
/dn channel list
Your channels.
/dn channel leave oldguard
Leave. When the last member leaves, the channel is gone. Squelching a channel leaves it too.

What about alts?

Sign in with Discord to link multiple characters across multiple worlds under one you. Your alts and mules and other-worldly characters are not united under your shared identity unless you choose to.

/dn link
Link the logged-in character to your Discord identity.
/dn unlink
Unlink the logged-in character from your Discord identity. Your Dereth Network friends won't go anywhere.
/dn alts
Displays whether your alts are automatically discoverable or not. You can control whether your alts are recognizable as one "you" on the Characters page.
/dn alts An Adventurer@leafcull
Display a character's alts, if they chose to make them public.

Who sees you?

Initially all characters are only visible to mutual friends and they can receive tells from any other player on the Dereth Network. You can change these settings:

/dn visible nobody | friends | channels | anyone
Who sees you online. channels means your friends and the members of your channels.
/dn reachable nobody | friends | anyone
Who can send you a first tell. Anyone you've sent a tell to in the last 30 minutes can always answer.
Appear Offline
The game's own character option hides you from everyone, here and elsewhere.

The Dereth Network keeps no messages nor record of online status. It has no player accounts either and it only knows a character by a world vouching for it.
